What can the tiniest of microbes reveal about the nature of global governance? In a first-of-its-kind exploration, this book traces the journey of one such microbe through the web of global governance surrounding what is commonly recognized as one of the biggest threats to global health security: antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Drawing on fieldwork in India, the book offers vital insight into the turbulence of global health governance and original thinking on how the micro shapes macro global politics. It exposes the limits of analytical dichotomies like 'global'/'local' and 'macro'/'micro', and recasts global governance's tensions as more than contestation in a multilateral arena: as micro-sites of turbulent resistance and postcolonial struggle.
