Born in Perth in 1875 to a Scottish minister, John Buchan was a lawyer, journalist, historian, poet, war correspondent, policitician, diplomat and of course a successful novelist. He moved to Canada in 1935 and served as Governor General there until is death in 1940. Buchan’s writing influenced Graham Greene, Ian Fleming and Alfred Hitchcock and continues to delight new generations of readers.
